The past six years have seen continuously strengthened guarantee for investment by government in Tibet’s education, amounting to over 60 billion yuan, Tibet Daily reported.

During the period from 2010 to 2015, the annual investment in Tibet’s education kept increasing significantly, being 6.259 billion yuan, 8 billion yuan, 9.54 billion yuan, 11 billion yuan, 13.5 billion yuan and 15.7 billion yuan respectively. They added up to 63.999 billion yuan, the highest in history. Investment in basic construction for education rocketed from 4 billion yuan during the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) period to 11.789 billion yuan during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period.

Thanks to the increased investment, Tibet was the first in China to achieve 15-year free education for all in 2012.
