Tibetan children receive heart surgery in Xi’an

Seven Tibetan children patients with congenital heart disease from Ngari received surgeries successfully in Xi’an, capital of Chinese inland Shaanxi Province on November 30, 2012.

In the early morning, medical staffs got busy preparing for surgeries for the 8-year-old Yeshe Qogco and the 2-year-old Tsering Kangco sharing a ward.

Being the youngest among the seven children, Tsering Kangco has the thickest conduit and highest pulmonary arterial pressure, who would lose the opportunity of surgery if he grows to 4 years old.

During the day, medical experts of Xijing Hospital carried out seven surgeries successfully. The children patients were moved to ICU for better post-operative monitoring and care, and they will be in hospital for one week after surgery.
