Tibetan athletes acheiving good grades in internatioanl Tai Chi events

The 5th World Traditional Martial Arts Championship was held in Huangshan, Anhui Province from 7th to 11th November. Altogether 245 teams totaling 2,865 athletes and representing 55 countries and regions participated in contests in more than 70 events.

After fierce competitions, athletes from Tibet Autonomous Region scored great results including three gold medals, one silver and three excellent prize. Among them, Yang Dawei won first prize of Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi Sword in men’s youth group and Yang Jingyuan ranked second in South Knife and obtained excellent prize as well in Traditional Fist in men's youth group. Besides, Cibai Lamu was awarded excellent prize of Tai Chi Quan in women's middle-age group.

According to report, World Traditional Martial Arts Championship which is also called 'World Traditional Martial Arts Festival' is a traditional martial arts contest jointly held by International Wushu Federation and Chinese Wushu Association. It is a ceremonial sport occasion with the largest scale, highest standard and widest influence for martial arts till now and is therefore honored 'the Olympics of Martial Arts'.
