Tibetan children with congenital heart disease receive free surgery in Wuhan

Twenty-seven children from southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region start receiving free surgery for congenital heart disease in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province,Oct. 30, 2012.
Selected from 374 children with suspected heart disease in four counties in the Shigatse Prefecture, these children are the second group to receive heart surgery in Wuhan, according to the regional Health Department.
These children are from six months to 16 years old, who will receive surgery at seven hospitals including the Union Hospital and the Asia Heart Diseases Hospital.
Due to the region's high elevation, the incidence of child congenital heart disease in Tibet is 10 times higher than other parts of China.
