Tibet’s first hospital for infectious disease to be used

Third People’s Hospital of Tibet, the first infectious disease hospital of the region will be completed at the end of September, and put into operation this year, according to China Tibet News.com.

The hospital aims at providing a new medical service platform for local peoples, according to Sonam Lhundrup, director of Preparatory office of the newly established hospital.

It will mainly assume the diagnosis, treatment and isolation responsibility for infectious diseases and outburst public health events after its completion. In addition, the hospital will also set ordinary medicine and surgical departments and take charge of comprehensive community medical and health service in Lhasa, to meet requirements of different patients.

After completion, the hospital will set two hundreds beds, including 160 beds for infectious diseases, and it can receive 100 to 120 outpatients and more than 20 emergency patients every day.

The Third People’s Hospital of Tibet is located near Lhasa Economic and Technical Development Zone, far away from populated areas and schools and while with convenient transportation and complete utility system. Sewage and disposal and waste water discharging can also follow environmental protection regulations.

At present, medical staffs of the newly established hospital are being recruited through a variety of channels, including transferring from other organizations, recommendation from inland and aid-Tibet projects, in order to form a medical talent team.
