Fourteen Tibetan children with congenital heart disease arrived in Beijing for free treatments by train on September 18, 2012.
Among the fourteen children, the eldest one is eighteen years old and the youngest one is only one year old. Selected from Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, they are the first group who meet the surgery criteria.
The free treatment for congenital heart disease patients is a part of the aid-Tibet “two hundred projects”, which is carried out by seventeen provinces and cities and seventeen Chinese state-owned enterprises.
The project is aimed at providing free medical assistance to two hundreds Tibetan children with congenital heart disease every year, and the fourteen Tibetan children are the first group of beneficiaries of Beijing’s medical aid-Tibet program since it was launched in July 27, 2012.
