A total of 22 Tibetan children with congenital heart disease arrived in central Chinese Hunan Province for free treatments, as a part of medical assistance program in Lhoka Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region.

Three designated hospitals in Hunan will set out treatment plan for the children patients according to clinical pathway specification, and open green channel for them.

Leaning close to her mother Yeshe Wangmo, 5-year-old Tibetan girl Ngawang’s eyes are filled with curiosity. “Due to the high altitude of Tibet, local children are easier to get congenital heart disease, and many children from disadvantaged family can’t get treatment in time,” said the mother. “We believe experts in Hunan Province could cure her, and give her life as normal children.”

According to Health Department of Hunan Province, the three designated hospitals will annually provide free treatment for 100 children with congenital heart disease from Gongkar, Dranang, Luntse and Sangri Countiy in Lhoka Prefecture. In addition, Hunan will conduct training to local medical staffs, and promote further cooperation.
