A charity project aiming at helping children with congenital heart disease was launched in primary schools in Ngari Prefecture of Tibet on September 5, 2012.

The "For our children" activity is designed to conduct large scale medical clinics and congenital heart disease screening for local children, and provide free medical treatments for patients with congenital heart disease.

"This charity activity will cover three counties of Ngari, and children patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease will be sent to Beijing and Guangzhou for free treatments,"said Xu Yixuan, an official of China Charity Federation.

Medical team visited primary schools of Nagri Prefecture on September 6, 2012 and checked up more than 400 pupils and their teachers. Five pupils and one teacher had been screened with heart disease.

Ngari is called "the roof of world’s roof", and its high altitude and severe climate make many local children easy to get congenital heart disease.
