Tibet launches first hydatid disease survey
The first hydatid disease epidemic survey is launched in Tibet Autonomous Region on September 4, 2012.
The survey will last for a month, aiming at finding out the epidemic level and range and providing reference for further prevention and cure projects.
During survey, site works will be conducted in four counties of Nagqu, Lhoka, Shigatse and Nyingchi prefectures, by four groups, each with three national experts and three local professionals to provide guidance.
After finishing site works, National Institute of Parasitic Disease of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention will conduct laboratory detection in Tibet to provide technological supports and enhance local detection ability of parasitic diseases.
Tibet suffers from high incidence of hydatid disease, due to its complex natural conditions and geographical environment, unique lifestyle and simple sanitary condition, as well as the huge species, large amount and wide distribution of animal reservoirs.
