China speeds up health service in Tibetan areas

China has achieved great improvements in developing health services in Tibet Autonomous Region and Tibetan areas of other provinces, according to Chen Zhu, minister of Ministry of Health of China.

According to statistics, Aiding-Tibet special planning investment has totaled 690 millions yuan, to promote project construction and improve conditions of medical treatments and public health.

Intellectual supports also have been launched. During the last two years, over 300 administrators and medical personnel have been sent to aid Tibet, and more than 200 staffs from Tibet have been trained by inland.

In addition, Tibetan areas of other provinces, including Qinghai, Sichuan, Yunnan and Gansu, have also received medical aids from central ministry.

A central special investment of 2.9 billion yuan has been allocated since 2010, to support health projects in Tibet, including medical reforming, infrastructure construction and basic equipment purchasing of primary medical service, training rural health personnel, constructing long-distant consultation system and promoting Tibetan medicine developments.

In the future Ministry of Health will continue benefiting local people by meeting people’s requirements of medical service and ensuring people’s health, said Chen Zhu.

Health intervention will be carried out, focusing on reducing infant mortality and maternal mortality, increasing life expectancy, treating childhood leukemia and congenital heart disease, supporting physical examination of farmers and nomads and experiencing conducting infant nutritional intervention project, according to Chen Zhu.
