Tibetan farmers and herdsmen get benefit from tourist service nowadays. Over 97,000 farmers and herdsmen set their foot in the tourism industry so far, with annual per capita income of 10,300 yuan (about 1,544 dollar), according to a report released by Tourism Administration of Tibet, Xinhua reported.
In recent years, with the improvement of transportation and city infrastructure, tourist industry in Tibet has enjoyed a boom.
A reservation to Tibet is usually out of demand in summer. Meanwhile, the number of travelers who choose to visit Tibet in winter is increasing year by year.
According to statistics, Tibet received 6.87 million domestic and overseas tourists in the first half of this year, growing by 31.9 percent compared with the corresponding period in 2015.
Meanwhile, tourism revenue topped 7 billion yuan, up 32.1 percent over the same period last year.
Apart from that, the diversity of tourist projects attract more and more travelers to visit farming and pastoral areas to experience Tibetan folk customs instead of visiting places of interests like Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery and Namtso only.
At present, a large group of farmers and herdsmen have been making a living and even become rich thanks to the development of tourism.
More and more local people are engaged in tourism industry in Tibet. To attract lots of domestic and overseas visitors, Tibet Tourist Bureau has carried out various measures, such as strengthening management of travel industry, enhancing market regulation, creating civilized environment and making unique tourism image.
According to the plan, Tibet will make great efforts to welcome 30 million tourists at the end of 13th Five-year Plan period, with total tourism revenue of 55 billion yuan.
It’s also estimated that 500,000 employees will be engaged in tourism industry, of which there will be 190,000 farmers and herdsmen. And annual per capita net income of those famers and herdsmen will reach 16,000 yuan.
