A total of 23 million yuan of special fund will be put to purchase commercial insurace for farmers and herders in Tibet Autonomous Region, according to the Health Department of Tibet Autonomous Region on June 15.

The government will put 10 yuan for each member of Tibet's rural areas for commercial health insurance, which is to be implemented in the oncoming July, said Phurbu Tashi, director of the department.

According to Phurbu Tashi, the common people who suffer serious illness will benefit more with the commercial insurance and less families will become poor because of illness.

If one who is seriously ill needs organ transplantation, he (she) can be reimbursed by insurance thanks to both the national medical system in Tibet covering almost all the rural areas in Tibet and the commercial insurance, which means the highest pay limitation will not be less than 100,000 yuan.
