Lhoka reports 3,780 yuan per capita net income

The per capita net income in rural areas of Lhoka Prefecture, Tibet, reached 3,780 yuan in 2009, up 14.4 percent year on year.

In the previous year, Lhoka Prefecture widely publicized the preferential policies to support agriculture.

Funds allocated to support agriculture hit 35.22 million yuan with each farmer and herdsman receiving 1,881.1 yuan of allowance.

Under the support of the local government, 740 public-service jobs were provided for unemployed people, helping 2,162 urban people to be employed.

Taking the advantage of abundant resources, the region encourages local people to develop characteristic industry by increasing financial support. Farmers and herdsmen in Chongye, Nedong and Konggar counties focused on developing aquaculture, receiving more than 5.5 million yuan added income.

More than 500 farmers and herdsmen engaged in the tourism industry in 2009 with the per capita net income reaching 5,000 yuan.

Moreover, 43,500 people found jobs outside Lhoka with a total income of 272 million yuan.
