Tibet registers mutual trade volume of 337 mln yuan in 2009

Tibet posted 337 million yuan (about 50 million U.S. dollars) in mutual trade among its border residents in 2009, with a year-on-year increase of 68.5 percent.

Imports and exports came to 74 million yuan and 263 million yuan, respectively.

Commodities for trade include herbal medicinal materials, cereals, small household articles, handicrafts, Indian carpets and domestic animal by-products and farm products.

The trade volume in Xigaze, Ngari, Shannan and Nyingchi prefectures shot up, hitting 250 million yuan, 56.9 million yuan, 28.3 million yuan and two million yuan, respectively.
