The Nyingchi Natural Ecology Museum is now the largest and most comprehensive natural museum in Tibet Autonomous Region, and it is also the only flora and fauna live specimen museum themed with natural resources in Tibet. It mainly displays animal and plant live specimen as well as folk tradition and fold customs from southeast Tibet, earning a reputation of "Nyingchi encyclopedia".

There are altogether 586 animal and plant specimen on display, including 101 birds, 84 animals, 14 fishes, 8 arbors, 18 fungus, 87 plants, 304 insects and 11 amphibians and reptiles. 70 percent of the total come from Nyingchi and the rest are chosen from Nagchu, Lhoka and other places of Tibet.
