NAGCHU, Tibet, Sep. 9 (China Tibet Online) The Nagchu Logistics Center of Qinghai-Tibet Railway is about 5 kilometers away from the south of Nagchu Town of Nagchu Prefecture, Tibet.

Centered on the Nagchu Railway Station of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the logistics center is 7km long and 1.5km wide, covering an area of 8000 mus with a total investment of 1,460 million yuan (about 238.7 million U.S. dollars).

It began the construction in September 2007 and was put into operation after completed in August 2009. It is mainly composed of six functional zones, including comprehensive logistics zone, petroleum products logistics zone, bulk goods and stack-loading freight logistics zone, hazardous article logistics zone, production and processing logistics zone and living quarters.

According to the statistics released by the Nagchu Logistics Center Administration, there are cumulative 89 enterprises signing agreement with the logistics center during the past four years. And 63 registered enterprises have entered into the logistics center, bringing over 500 million yuan (about 81.7 million U.S. dollars) of registered capital.

Since 2010, all the enterprises in the logistics center have accumulated created a full aperture tax of 640 million yuan (about 104.6 million U.S. dollars) for the Nagchu Prefecture.

The logistics center had achieved a total tax payment of 46.72 million yuan (about 7.6 million U.S. dollars) in 2010, 147 million yuan (about 24 million U.S. dollars) in 2011, and 228 million yuan (about 37.3 million U.S. dollars) in 2012. And in 2013, up to now it has paid taxes of 218.9 million yuan (about 35.8 million U.S. dollars). The numbers are on rise year by year.

Every year, the cargo handling capacity of the logistics center exceeds 300,000 tons, accounting for 70 percent of the annual cargo throughput in the Nagchu Prefecture, which could effectively ensure the life supplies and infrastructure construction for the local citizens. The logistics center has played an important role in the aspects of economy, society, living security and development in the Nagchu Prefecture.
