Tibet to invest 8 bln yuan for improving electric construction

The central finance and State Grid Corporation of China will make an investment of 8.134 billion yuan (about 1.33 billion U.S. dollars) in Tibet with the purpose of accelerating electric power construction in the areas without electricity and upgrading the rural electric reform project during 2013 and 2015.

Among the total investment, 5.396 billion yuan (about 0.89 billion U.S dollars) will be used for electric power construction in the Tibetan areas without electricity, while the rest of the money of 2.738 billion yuan (about 0.45 billion U.S.dollars) will be distributed to the rural electric reform project.

The whole project will newly increase a population of 439,800 to use electricity in Tibet.
