The repair construction of Tangmai Bridge which belongs to the Sichuan-Tibet Highway had completed at 10 o'clock on Sep. 10, 2013 after one-month traffic disruption, thus the transportation on 318 National Highway has resumed, according to Xinhua.

As a key project in the 318 National Highway of Sichuan-Tibet Highway, the Tangmai Bridge is located in the Pome County of Nyingchi Prefecture, Tibet.

It is designed with double towers, double spans and suspension cable. The bridge crosses the Yi-ong Tsangpo River, which is the tributary of Parlung Zangbo River, and is also the secondary branch of Yarlung Tsangpo River. The bridge is 258 meters long and 31.5 meters high. Its main span is 210 meters high and the weight capacity is 20 tons.

The bridge was collapsed at 23 o'clock on Aug. 2, 2013 because the riveting line had fallen off, which lead to the traffic disruption.

The Tangmai Bridge of Sichuan-Tibet Highway is a substitute project of the primary bridge of steel girders and poured concreted which was destroyed by rush of water in 2000. The buildup of Tangmai Bridge basically guarantees the smooth traffic of 318 National Highway. It is regulated that only one car could cross the bridge at a time.
