Renowned as the largest and widest highway bridge over the Lhasa River, the Nachen Bridge under construction is located in the east suburbs of Lhasa, Tibet. It is planned to be completed and opened to traffic on Oct. 1, 2013 after the project has began in January of 2011.

The bridge is 1.28km long and 33 meters wide, with a total investment of 244.8 million yuan (about 40 million U.S, dollars). It is bidirectional and has 6 lanes.

After its completion, the Nachen Bridge will connect the east area of Lhasa and the 318 National Highway, further improving the traffic condition in Lhasa and promoting the economic development on both sides of the Lhasa River.

Right now, there are three cement bridges over the Lhasa River including the famous Lhasa Bridge and Liuwu Bridge, and the Nachen Bridge will be the fourth and the largest cement highway bridge after completed.
