With a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan (about 0.2 billion U.S. dollars), the Lhasa old town renovation project was successfully completed on June 30, 2013 after six months and ten days hard working by the construction headquarters and all the participating units.

Since the renovation project was opened on Dec. 20, 2012, workers had gone all out to advance the project construction.

After the renovation, the infrastructure of the Lhasa old town has greatly improved and the local environment beautified. The special characteristics of the old town including the world cultural heritages, historic buildings and sites of religious activities have been well protected and highlighted. The transportation for local people gets more convenient.
