Since summer, Lhasa of Tibet which enjoys the reputation of the City of Sunshine only embraces the night time until 21 p.m. every day. With the brightly shining sunlight in the daytime and flashing neon at night, the great nightlife makes Lhasa change into a genuine city without darkness.

Every evening around nine o'clock, the local people will dance with the music fountain in the south of the Potala Palace Square. In front of them is the magnificent Potala Palace, standing tall and upright in the soft lightings.

The local people are fond of the Gorchom circle dance, which means the dance in a circle in the Tibetan language. It is one of the three traditional Tibetan dances and the other two are Shinze dance and Repa dance.

Changdren, a 55-year-old Tibetan lady says that she will dance in the square after supper everyday and she enjoys dancing. Sometimes tourists will also dance with the locals and even have better dancing postures. The traditional Tibetan Gorchom circle dance has already become one of the important entertainments for people in Lhasa.

The youth in Lhasa are also warm up in the evening, wandering around the streets and alleys of Lhasa. There are many tea houses, KTV, Discos, pubs and modern shopping malls.

One of the places where Tibetan songs and dances are performed is called Langmar Hall. Langmar means court music in the Tibetan language and could only be enjoyed by the noble in the past, but now, it is appreciated by the common people in general.

Dechen Pedron, a young Tibetan girl, is dating her boyfriend in a large coffee house located in the west of Lhasa. "We are both busy with working in the daytime and only have time at night for dating. We would like to find some quiet places where we could chat and enjoy the romantic atmosphere," says Dechen Pedron.
