With a total investment of 540 million yuan (about 88 million U.S. dollars), the Tibet international convention center project was launched on April 15, 2012. It will be the first comprehensive international convention center with the design concept of snow-covered plateau after completion.

The halls of the convention center are able to organize large scale exhibition

The convention center is located in the middle of the business district by the Lhasa River of east Lhasa, Tibet. It is composed of two halls, one venue, an artificial lake and a music fountain, etc.

Covering a gross structure area of 33543.1 square meters and an outdoor exhibition are of 67000 square meters, the convention center is by far the largest construction project in Lhasa.

According to the introduction of the on-site project leader, the walls of the two halls both adopted the building structure of stiffness ration of coupling wall-beam (SRCW).

After its completion, one hall will be used for various kinds of meetings, such as bull session and business negotiation meeting. Another one will be an exhibition room for displaying exhibits with national features such as the Tibetan carpet expo and ethnic arts and crafts expo.

The whole convention center is environmental-friendly

Based on the design sketch, the Tibet convention center could provide people not only perfect supporting service facilities, but also elegant and comfortable environment, according to the leader of the on-site project.

The surrounding green area will account for 35 percent of the whole gross area of the convention center.

It is planned to build 200 parking spaces in the ecological parking lot of over 10,000 square meters by both sides of the convention center.

The solar hot water system will also be adopted in the center to guarantee and improve the usage of hot water, and in the meantime, to save time and water resource.

The project of Tibet convention center has altogether nine sections. In order to ensure the project process, each section implements crossover operation.

From the perspective of current construction progress, all the sections of the project will be finished on April, 2014.
