Recently, the world's highest altitude 10MW-level photovoltaic power station, Ngari photovoltaic power station in Tibet has completed the 5MW installed capacity and combined to the grid formally.

Ngari photovoltaic power station in Tibet was constructed and invested together by the central government and the Tibet New Energy of Guodian Longyuan Electrical Co., LTD with a total installed capacity of 10MW and a designed working life of 25 years.

The power station is 3 kilometers away from the center of Shiquanhe town of Ngari Prefecture and 4,270 meters above the sea level. The construction started on July 1st, 2012, covering an area of 357 mu.

According to the introduction of the vice general manager of the Tibetan new energy Co., LTD, Ngari photovoltaic power station has adopted the most advanced photoelectric technology and is equipped with 10MW photoelectric storage device, which is the biggest in China. Several difficult problems have been solved, such as optoelectronic storage and stable transport.

The whole power station is expected to be completed and put into use in Nov.2013.

Since the Ngari photovoltaic power station in Tibet is combined to the grid, the situation of hydroelectric, thermal and photoelectric complementary power has formed to further optimize the energy structure and improve the energy situation in Ngari Prefecture.
