Tibet airports' passenger traffic exceeds 2 million

On November 16th, the passenger throughput of airports in Tibet exceeded 2 million, creating a new historical record and laying a foundation for achieving 2.2 million passenger traffic of the year.

In the year, Tibet local government widely introduced airline companies and encouraged those companies to launch new airline routes through active coordination with them.

Airline companies also constantly increased flight routes and flight numbers in tourism busy season of Tibet.

The Lhasa airport ensured as many as 74 flights' arrival and departure.

With the ADS-B technology put into operation for airline between Chengdu and Lhasa and Lhasa-Yushu airline launched as well as the night flight navigation ability of all airports in Tibet, Tibet airports' passenger throughput further enhanced.

Currently, there are 7 airline companies in Tibet, including Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines, opening 38 air routes to 22 cities, with Lhasa to Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Katmandu, Qamdo, Nyingchi and Ngari included.

Since the establishment of Lhasa Airport, Tibet's airport has increased from one to five and its staff number has also enlarged from 16 to over 2000.

Up to now, airports in Tibet have ensured the safe flight of planes for 47 years, contributing a lot to Tibet’s development.
