The 2013 Fortune Global Forum had brought down the curtain in China's western metropolis of Chengdu. Government officials, CEOs from the world's top 500 firms and media from around the world gathered in Chengdu from June 6th to June 8th, which is the first time the forum was held in China's west city after the former host cities including Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing.

Thubten Khedrup, the dean of College of Economic and Management of the Tibet University shows his special attention on the 2013 Fortune Global Form. As an economic expert in the western regions of China, he says that the forum had attracted the attention of investors around the world on China's west region.

Thubten Khedrup says: "It is now the second phase of Development of the West Regions in China. In order to make all the regions walk into the moderately prosperous society, the government has provided many preferential policies for the west regions."

These preferential policies will attract more entrepreneurs to invest in the west regions.

According to Thubten Khedrup, the west regions, including Tibet, still have many restrictions to the economic development due to their geography and history. However, generations of China's government leaders pay attention to their development. The infrastructure including transportation and communication has been largely promoted, which is beneficial to the enterprises' investment in the west regions.

The world's top 500 firms which attended the forum held in Chengdu will make China's west regions as the target market.

Thubten Khedrup says, Tibet should also keep an eye on the latest global economic development. After the 5th Conference on the Work of Tibet, the central government and other provinces and cities have provided Tibet assistance through all means, therefore, the Tibetan economics has made a leapfrog development.

However, the Tibetan economic development should be consistent with that of the world. If the world's top 500 firms enter into Tibet, they will bring Tibet both big opportunities and challenges.

Tibet has a great potential for developing tourism. The central government formulates policies to make Tibet a world's tourist destination. Brand-building will surely help promote Tibet's tourism and economic development.

Tibet also has many ports on the border line. Thubten Khedrup hopes Tibet will open the international market and attract foreign capital through platforms such as the Fortune Global Forum. He says, our Tibetans also follow the 2013 Fortune Global Forum held in Chengdu and it will bring our development both chances and challenges.
