The reason that the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2013 attracts worldwide attention is closely related to the rapid development of China's economy. Nowadays, China plays an indispensable role in the world’s economic system. As a part of China, Tibet has made tremendous contributions to the economic development of the country.

The rapid growth of Tibet Autonomous Region proves "China's speed". Facing with the several big challenges including the Incident on March 14, 2008, natural disasters, international financial crisis and slowdown in the domestic economic development over the past five years, Tibet persists in innovative and scientific development. Its ability in keeping the market economy under control and deal with the complicated situation has improved, advancing Tibet's sustainable development.

During the past five years, Tibet has kept the pace of economic development with that of promoting its quality and efficiency.

The gross domestic product has exceeded 40 billion yuan (about $6.5 billion), 50 billion yuan (about $8.1 billion), 60 billion yuan (about $9.7 billion) and 70 billion yuan (about $11.3 billion) continuously in the five consecutive years with an average annual growth of 12 percent.

The per capita GDP has broken through 20,000 yuan ($3228). The total retail volume of consumer goods in Tibet has broken through 25 billion yuan (about $4 billion) with an annual increase of 17 percent.

The public finance budget revenue amounted to 30 billion yuan (about $4.8 billion), 50 billion yuan (about $8.1 billion) and 80 billion yuan (about $12.9 billion) continuously. The total revenue reaches 15.356 billion yuan (about $2.5 billion).

The per capita net income of farmers and herdsmen reaches 5,645 yuan (about $912), which is more than doubled from 2007 to 2012 with an annual increase of 15 percent. The urban per capita disposable income has reached 18,056 yuan (about $2,916), 62.2 percent higher than that of 2007 with the annual increase of 10.2 percent.

In regard to Tibet's rapid development, we could see the economic power of China. During the international financial crisis, China has become an important engine in promoting the world's economic development.

According to the IMF, from 2010 to 2012, the world's economic growth rate is respectively 5.1 percent, 3.8 percent and 3.3 percent.

According to the data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics, China's economic growth reaches 10.3 percent, 9.2 percent and 7.8 percent respectively year on year. China, including Tibet, has served as the destination of exports and investment for other countries and regions.

As the most prestigious annual forum for leaders of government, business and academia in Asia and other continents, the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2013 (BFA) provides the elites with a platform to share visions on the most pressing issues in this dynamic region and the world at large. During the annual event, there are over 1400 delegates from 13 countries and regions, including nearly thousands of reporters from 200 news agencies around the world.

Facing the BFA, the Tibet Autonomous Region as a part of China has its own objective. In the next five years, Tibet expects to reach the annual GDP growth rate of over 12 percent. The opportunities Tibet provides for the whole world will surely attract global attention.
