Zangmu hydropower station, the first large-scale hydropower station was started construction on September 27, 2010. The total investment of the project almost reached 7.9 billion yuan, with a total capacity of 0.51 million KWH. The first machine set is planned to put into operation in 2014 and alleviate the pressure of electricity shortage in central Tibet Autonomous Region.
