National reserve in Tibet realizes standardized management mode

In 2015, the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region invested over 300 million RMB, setting up 73 management stations within the reserve and recruiting 780 farmers and pastoralists who formed a professional management team. From June to July of 2016, the forestry departments will organize training classes for management workers at the regional, municipal and county levels.

It was reported that the content of this training program is about the policies and regulations regarding the national reserve as well as for wild animals and wetland preservation; management work in the national reserve, wild animal rescue and knowledge regarding diseases prediction and prevention; skill training regarding military, emergency and wildlife survival. Professional officials are invited to teach the classes. Tibet’s People's Armed Police will be responsible for the Military training and scenario simulation practice.

The Qiangtang National Nature Reserve covers 7 counties of Amdo, Nima, Tsonyi , Gertse, Gegye, Rutok and Gar in the two areas of Nagqu and Nagriin Tibet with a surface area of 298,000 square kilometers, which accounts for 25% of the total surface area of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is the largest continental natural ecological natural reserve in China as well as in the entire world.
