As the gene library of biodiversity, Tibet has built 47 various kinds of nature reserves, according to TAR Environmental Protection Office.

Tibet has vast kinds of animals and plants, it's one of the most bio-diversified places in the world. There are 798 kinds of wild vertebrates, 125 of which are national protected, and 196 of the total kinds can only be found in Tibet.

At present, the number of Tibetan Antelopes has increased to 150,000, and the number of Black-necked crane reached to 7,000.

In addition, Tibet has more than 9,600 kinds of wild plants including 6,400 kinds of advanced plants. 855 of the whole kinds are featured in Tibet. More than 300 kinds of the plants are used as Tibetan medicine.

By far, Tibet has applied 4.7 million yuan of specific funds for national level nature reserves, and taken standardized constructions for nature reserves of Qomolangma, Lhalu wetland and Qiangtang. Tibet also revised and released the new version of "Act for Key Wild Plants Protection in TAR".
