Up to now, the rare wild animals including Tibetan antelope are unaffected by the Yushu earthquake which happened on April 14 in Qinghai Province, according to Fu Shouwu, deputy director of Yushu Forest Public Security Bureau.

There are less than 100,000 Tibetan antelopes in China and most of the Tibetan antelopes are living in Qinghai Province. "With the protection of Sanjiangyuan area and improvement of anti-poaching in Ke Ke Xi Li, the amount of Tibetan antelope is improving with 20% year by year," said Fu Shouwu.

Fu also added that besides the Tibetan antelope, the number of wolf and red deer was also improving. Currently, the amount of wild yak, bear, wolf, lynx and red deer is increasing in west Yushu.

"In the pasturing area of Yushu, you can easily find the trace of wolf and deer," said Fu Shouwu.
