Launched on July 1, 2006, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway extends 1956 kilometers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, famed as "the roof of the world" with an average altitude of more than 4,000 meters.
Like a road in the sky, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway makes it easier to reach "the top of the world".
The Qinghai-Tibet Railway starts from Xining, capital city of northwest China's Qinghai Province and ends in Lhasa, capital city of the Tibet Antonomus Region (TAR). It is the world highest railway and the first railway of its kind to Tibet.
