Currently the central government has invested 141.39 million yuan to institutions on environment protection of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

With special fund allocated in 2008, 8 automatic monitoring stations for urban air quality, 7 acid deposition monitoring stations, 2 emergency monitoring systems for key cities, 1 national air background monitoring station and 1 rural ambient air monitoring station will complete construction and begin operation within 2010.
