Lhasa: clearer water, prettier scenery

Lhasa, the capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, has reportedly been listed the limited few capital cities where urban environment is comprehensively rated premier across the country.

According to official air quality statistics, Lhasa has maintained an average above 98 percent premier quality index in the past six years.: 98.l% in 2005, 99% in 2006, 98.1% in 2007, 96.5% in 2008, 98.9% in 2009, and 98.9% in 2010.

In terms of the public environmental awareness, local citizens in Lhasa are voluntarily engaged in environment protection in daily life, by saving water and electricity, or choosing public transportations.

The municipal government has strived to carry out continuous favorable policies, vigorously implementing afforestation and pollution-control projects to ensure the construction of an eco-friendly urban environment.

Thanks to efforts by all sides, local citizens truly benefit from well maintained urban environment and feedback a recorded satisfaction rate up to 89% in a recent public poll.

Lhasa is developing, satisfactorily with clearer water and prettier scenery.
