China's Tibet Autonomous Region will strive to fully complete county asphalt road construction to accomplish the goal of connecting all counties by asphalt roads, according to relevant departments.

Tibet to construct road traffic network

Tibet will gradually complete the county asphalt road network during the 12th Five-Year Plan.

During the 12th Five-Year Plan, Tibet will accelerate road construction in rural areas to basically realize the connection of all qualified organizational villages, villages, farms and forest farms by roads. The road problem of temples will gradually be solved. Around 60 percent of villages and towns will be connected by asphalt roads and the rural road network will be basically completed. In addition, the "broken-end roads" of provincial roads will be eliminated in line with the rural road network.

Meanwhile, Tibet will also accelerate the construction of rural road passenger stations to gradually form a clearly demarcated transport system of rural roads, as well as strengthen the road management and maintenance, the system development and personnel training to comprehensively raise the capacity of rural transport supply and the service system level.

Tibet will basically accomplish its goal of having over 90 percent of villages and towns as well as 80 percent of organizational villages connected by asphalt roads, and all qualified temples will be connected by 2020. After that, the overall capacity of the rural road network will be greatly enhanced and regular buses will be available in all organizational villages with roads.
