Tibet’s 2009 ecological environment press released that the number of sandstorm days decreased largely and the ecological environment improved greatly in Tibet due to years of tree planting.

There were 32 fewer days with sandstorm compared to 30 years ago in Lhasa, 34 fewer days in Xigaze and 32 fewer days in Zetang.

The shelter forest system of the Yarlung Tsangpo River has been established from Lhasa, Lhoka to Xigaze. It can protect ten thousand mu of farmland along the river.

The alternative energy project greatly reduced the consumption of traditional energy and effectively protected the regional ecological environment.
