The first day of Kongpo New Year in Nyingchi of Tibet

Karma Tashi, a man lives in the Dromba Village of Nyingchi Prefecture, east of Tibet has welcomed the first day of Kongpo New Year with the whole family in the morning of Dec 3, 2013.
After made a stove fire in the sitting room, Karma Tashi's wife began to clean up inside and outside of the room. Grandma of the whole family was responsible for cooking breakfast. She baked the appetizing pancakes on the hot stove and children ate them with relish. Combination of pancakes and buttered tea is the most common breakfast for Tibetans.
Karma Tashi came back from Lhasa yesterday after completed his work. As the leader of his timber transport team, he has begun to calculate the unpaid salary for the workers from early in the morning. There is an old Chinese saying that don't owe workers' back pay in the new year, because everyone needs to purchase goods to prepare for the coming year.

It is a traditional custom that kill pigs and bulls as sacrifices before the new year eve, in addition, the grandma has specifically brewed a barrel of highland barley wine as an indispensable dish for the family reunion dinner.
In the Kongpo New Year eve, the whole family has a clear division of work and orderly coordination. The couple went to the Nyingchi Prefecture to purchase fruits, vegetables, meat and new clothes. Grandpa got the tea and wheat flour from village committee and grandma did some cleaning in the house. For children, it is the happiest time for them during the Kongpo New Year Festival.
Just like Karma Tashi's family, lots of families in the Nyingchi Prefecture of Tibet are busy with the coming new year, hoping for happiness and prosperity.
