Lhachung, a 37-year-old local resident living in Shigatse Prefecture of Tibet, whose life was almost crushed by her husband's death when an earthquake hit Nedong County in 2011. Now, she has reignited the hope of life with the help of local government and Aid-Tibet cadres.

Lhachung once had a happy family of three.

Her husband worked hard in Nedong County, over 300 kilometers away from Shigatse, and often sent money home by post. Her handsome son always got good credit as a primary school student in Grade 5.

But, an earthquake which hit Nedong County on Sept 18, 2011 relentlessly took the life of Lhachung's husband. The tragedy smashed her life into pieces as a bolt from the blue.

Lhachung couldn't endure such unexpected attack.

"But for the help of the government and especially secretary Wang, I wouldn't have recovered from the tragedy and lived such a good life now", said Lhachung, who choked when recalling the hard days last year.

The cadre referred to was Wang Xijing, secretary of the Party Committee in Shigatse, member of prefectural party committee, who was among the Aid-Tibet cadres from eastern China's Qingdao city.

After Wang Xijing heard the incident in Lhachung's family, he sent 70,000 yuan to her home, including 40,000 yuan allocated from the government pension and 30,000 donated by all the Aid-Tibet cadres.

Wang also gave much financial aid through his own efforts, sending extra allowance and articles for daily use for the family.

What impressed Lachung most was that Wang promised to subsidize her son even for his college tuition. Wang said he would continue to care about the family even if he left his work in Tibet.

"Wang intended to build a school at first. But when he saw so many Tibetans in need, he gave out his own subsidy to help people like Lachung without hesitance", said Gyezang, minister of publicity department in the municipal Party committee of Shigatse.

As an illiterate widow, Lachung said she didn't know how to live on if there had been no such good policy from the government.

"If without the Aid-Tibet cadres, Lachung would not get so much help and subsidy", Gyezang said, "the Aid-Tibet cadres have spared no efforts in helping the vulnerable groups in Tibet".
