On June 20, Yunnan Lucky Air Co., Ltd flight 8L9627 took off from Chengdu, and, after making a stop in Kangding, landed smoothly at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, marking the opening of a new air route between Sichuan and Tibet.

Lucky Air operates one round-trip flight each day. The first flight departs Chengdu at 06:35 and arrives in Kangding at 07:30. After a one-hour stopover in Kangding, the flight departs again at 08:30 and arrives in Lhasa, Tibet at 10:30. It returns on the same day, departing Lhasa Gonggar airport at 11:10 and arriving at Chengdu at 14:40.

Opening this new route brings the people of Sichuan and Tibet even closer. It makes easier for more travelers to visit Tibet and promotes the development of Tibet's tourism market.

There has been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting Tibet in recent years. More than 15 million people traveled to Tibet in 2014, including more than 3 million passengers who traveled by air.
