The business opportunities of Tibet's organic health industry drew investors from China and Nepal to Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, for a green, healthy products expo.

"The Tibet autonomous region has unique advantage for green resources, including pure water, clean soil and air," said Zhou Puguo, vice mayor of Lhasa, at the opening of the week-long expo that concluded Thursday.

Local business people and those from neighboring Nepal presented their products, including Tibetan mushroom, carpet and agricultural goods, as well as Nepalese wool products.

The city started to promote healthy green products in September 2013 and focuses on nine fields for development, such as water, dairy products, vegetables, Tibetan pork and chicken, as well as Tibetan mushrooms, according to the municipal government.

"For instance, Lhasa is a great place to plant maca, a nutritious and medicinal root, which has a steady market value. The total planting area in Lhasa has reached to 1,000 hectares," said Jiu Junbo, an official at the Lhasa agricultural bureau, adding that the city cooperated with Guizhou Maotai liquor group, China's top alcohol brand, to produce maca liquor.

JD.com, one of China's largest e-commerce sites, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the municipal government, aiming to take more green, healthy products from Tibet to the online sales platform.

A total of 79 projects were signed during the expo.
