When the country embraces the late incoming of spring, farmers on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau has begun their first "Spring Ploughing" of this year. Traditional ceremony was held to mark the beginning of spring sowing on Mar. 17th, the thirteenth day in Tibetan lunar calendar.
Driving the tractor with a national flag, Lozang Tagten, a 23-year-old boy was elected the leader of the ploughing team in Dazi County, Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region on Mar.17, regarded as "a good date for spring sowing" according to the Tibetan calendar.
"The sowing ceremony is our tradition held every year. The villagers, including the younger generation like me, are trying our best to keep this cultural tradition," said by Lozang Tagten.
