404 Tibetan Buddhist monks participate in academic title test in Qinghai

The 2016 Qinghai province annual Tibet traditional Buddhist education academic title test was conducted on September 6th. 404 Buddhist monks participated. This is the first academic title test for Buddhist institutes in Qinghai and this year saw the most participants in its 30-year history.  There were a total of 4 test locations that were set up in the Kumbum Buddhist Monastery Institute as well as in the Tongde County Tibetan Culture Bodhisattva Institute.

The Qinghai province Tibetan language Buddhist Institute was initiated by the 10th Panchen Lama and was initiated on the Tibetan holy site in the Kumbum monastery in September of 1986. The Institute Educational Administration Section Chief Taijia Kuan explained that the 2016 annual plan will recruit the 40 individuals in the intermediary level to study for four years  (the recruits will be from the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism);  it will also recruit the 40 students to study for 4 years, all of these subjects will be from each of the sects of Tibetan Buddhism.

At present, China has invested 116 million yuan into the project, and the Qinghai Province Tibetan Language Buddhist Institute which is newly built has already gone into use which is located in the Guide county, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. This concludes a long time rental of the Kumdum monastery office for you to develop education and research. Traditional Tibetan studies students that will be recruited newly in the current program will study there at.  It is projected that there will be as many as 400 students at the school by the year 2019.
