At the religious session of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held during Mar. 22-26, Panchen Erdini Qoigyijabu, member of the standing committee of the CPPCC National Committee and Vice Chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, aired his views on what makes a religious leader.

“The title of the religious leader is not conferred upon but earned through hard efforts. He should be convince others in regard to religious attainments after practice and cultivation, and should be responsible, or he cannot be regarded as a religious leader,” said Panchen Lama. “And he should have a loving heart to help all mortal beings as well as the courage to deliver all living creatures from sufferings.”

“Over 2,500 years ago, the Buddha gave such enlightenment that all things in the world are brought about by the will of the people. Could everyone be very compassionate, I think, all the families and the society may be harmonious and the world peaceful,” he said
