Se Monastery
Se Monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in affiliation with the Jonang Sect, and it is located on the eastern ridge of Aba County. Ever since Tsongkhapa , the creator of the Gelug Sect started implementing changes upon the Jonang Sect , the entire sect started to die off slowly. The Se Monastery is the only monastery that is still flourishing today. The butter sculptures of this monastery set out for the lantern festival are widely popular, and this monastery is one of the best places to visit in order to explore the Jonang Sect. The temple is located 504 kilometers away from Chengdu, and 245 kilometers away from Barkam.
Admission Fee: Admission to the scripture hall costs 20 yuan and admission to the white pagoda costs 10 yuan.
Songpan North Mosque
The Songpan North Mosque is a traditional Chinese palatial architectural structures, located in the northern corner of Songpan County. The construction of this mosque began in the Qing Dynasty, and it was reconstructed in 1919, which has been around more than 200 years. This mosque is the major place of worship for people of the Hui ethnic group in Songpan area. The enormous architectural structure was built based on traditional Islamic architectural design plans. It is comprised of an entrance building, a church, a scripture room, a shower room, and so on, and it is the most comprehensive Islamic mosque throughout the entire Songpan County.
