A Qinghai Folk Handicraft Delegation organized by Qinghai Province in northwest China recently held two handicraft workshops in Tanzania. More than 150 local youth art lovers attended the events.

Under the detailed guidance of three Qinghai craftsmen, participants became keenly interested in elegant paper cutting, flat embroidery of the Tu ethnic group, and rich silk paintings and started to learn these arts.

Sean, principal of the United Nations Road Primary School, said that it was a great pleasure to invite the folk craftsmen from Qinghai to teach their exquisite handicrafts to schoolchildren, opening their eyes to other parts of the world. He hoped that the students would use this occasion as a starting point from which to enjoy ethnic folk arts and to understand Chinese culture.

At the end of the event, students sang their school song and the Tanzanian song Beautiful Tanzania, expressing their gratitude and bidding farewell to the craftsmen.
