Tibetan documentary earns award at New York International Film Festival
The documentary My Tibetan New Year, jointly produced by the China International Television Station and CCTV Tibet Station, was selected for the 23rd China’s 10 Best Documentary Films and also won the world silver award at the New York
The documentary tells the story of a blind Tibetan girl who can speak English, Tibetan, and Chinese and opens a kindergarten for blind children. The film does not have any commentary, opening with different dates on paper written in Braille, the title, and a brief synopsis.
The film, through meaningful images and natural dialogue between characters, shows the blind girl, Gyila’s Tibetan New Year celebration and the various difficulties she faces in running kindergarten.
