The 300-episode animation series Yak Yak and the construction of a yak-themed park called “Yak, Yak Glacier Century Theme Park” were jointly launched byTibet and the Shenzhen Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Animation Company. The animation series received an investment of 120 million yuan (18 million US dollars) while the yak-Themed park received an investment of 220 million yuan (32 million US dollars).

"Yak Yak” is China’s first long-form animation program with Tibetan cultural characteristics. It is also the first continuous cartoon with yaks, a sacred, spiritual, and cultural totem for Tibetan people, as the main theme. There are 11 other rare animals of Tibet in addition to yak showcased in the cartoon, including the Tibetan antelope, Tibetan mastiff, gibbon, pterosaur, Tibetan pig, long-haired rabbit, snow leopard, and red fox. The cartoon aims to promote Tibetan culture while putting on a good display of Tibet’s rare wild animals.

After investigation, it has basically been confirmed that the location of the yak- themed Park will be in either Nyingchi City or Jiuzhaigou, Sichuan Province.
