The 14th Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival will be jointly organized by Shigatse and Shanghai. Since 2001, there have been 13 Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festivals.

The 14th Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival plans to open in Shigatse on August 25, lasting seven days and concluding on the evening of August 31. The theme of the event is “Love Qomolangma, Auspicious Shigatse”. The Shanghai portion of the event plans to open on September 11, lasting four days and concluding on September 14. The main theme will be “Charm of Qomolangma, Affection Between Shanghai and Tibet”, and there will also be exhibitions on Shigatse thangka art, photography, achievements in Tibetan aid programs, ethnic customs, and a promotional event for Shigatse tourism.

This year’s Mt. Qomolangma Cultural Tourism Festival will not only have exhibitions of traditional thangka, but also Tibetan opera performances, an indoor performance of “Gyantse Imprints”, and other cultural performances.
