The 30th annual Flying Goddess Awards held recently in Hangzhou honored the 46-episode series "The Untold Story of Tibet" as an Excellent TV Show. Liu Debin, the show’s creator and director, also received the Excellent TV Writing Award.

"The Untold Story of Tibet" is a historical saga about how four aristocratic Tibetan families changed from the 1930s through the 1950s. The series used Tibetan story-telling format to show the inhumane old Tibet, where the slaves had no rights, how the three feudal lords exploited and brutalized the people, and the inevitable uprising of the one million slaves of Tibet.

The series was well received after first playing on CCTV in 2013, and was awarded the "Five-One Project" prize in 2014 by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China.

The Flying Goddess Awards are the only national-level awards for TV shows in China. This year’s awards featured over 200 shows, with 32 shows winning awards for Excellent TV Show.
