LHASA,Nov.19(China Tibet Online) The R&D team of Shenzhen municipal people’s consultative conference presented an updated Mandarin-Tibetan translation software on mobile phones to the Tibet regional people’s conference on Nov.16.

The updated software integrated more than 20,000 commonly used sentences, and achieved a translation accuracy rate of 95 percent. At the same time, the software installation package includes all application information so that even when offline, it can also function. The decrease in dependence on the network makes it more convenient for users in remote areas.

The Shenzhen University "Language Bridge" research group led by Huang Zhongwei successfully launched the Mandarin and Uygur language translation software for mobile phones in 2014, and the "Mandarin-Tibetan Language Bridge" software was developed based on the experience of the former. For ease of user experience, the basic interface displays both Tibetan and Mandarin when opened.

In regard to function, the software also provides writings and pronunciations of Tibetan letters and Mandarin Pinyin in a categorical manner in addition to the necessary functions of characters and sentence translations. What is even cooler is that the software provides the standardized pronunciation of Tibetan and Mandarin words, phrases and sentences, making it convenient for people of different ethnic groups to learn from each other.
