Largest "Tea Horse Road" cultural relics exhibition debuted in Yunnan
On Nov.10, the Exhibition of Tea Horse Road Cultural Relics in Eight Provinces and Autonomous Regions debuted in the Yunnan Provincial Museum. It displays over 500 fine cultural relics from Yunnan, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai provinces and Inner Mongolia, Guangxi and Tibet autonomous regions, the largest one of its kind in China so far.
Set in the ancient transportation history of southwestern China and the development and evolution of the Tea Horse Road, this exhibition gradually leads the audience to the Yunnan-Tibet route, Sichuan-Tibet route, Qinghai-Tibet route and Yunnan-Guangxi route of the Tea Horse Road, and further shows the different cultural areas spanned by these routes.
The exhibition is composed of seven parts. The first part themed on the Early Form of Tea Horse Road introduces the broad historical background of the ancient transportation, migration and exchanges of western China; the second part themed on the Maritime Silk Road reveals Guangxi as the junction of the Tea Horse Road and the Maritime Silk Road; the third, fourth, fifth and sixth parts focusing on Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet and Qinghai unfold the most important sights in the core areas of the Tea Horse Road; and the seventh part themed on the Overland Silk Road shows the Tea Horse Road linked with the Silk Road to send tea to more countries and regions.
Sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Museum, this exhibition is co-organized by the Inner Mongolia Museum, Museum of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Sichuan Museum, Tibet Museum, Shaanxi History Museum, Gansu Provincial Museum and Qinghai Provincial Museum.
The debut of this exhibition in the Yunnan Provincial Museum lasts from Nov.10, 2015 to Feb.14, 2016. It will be an itinerant exhibition in Sichuan and other areas.
